Gurung Villages Cultural Trek

Ghandruk is a village development committee which lies in the Kaski District of Gandaki Zone. It’s a popular trek in the Annapurna range of Nepal. From Ghandruk we can see the views of Mountain of Annapurna, Machapuchare and Himchuli. This is the short day trek where tea houses and homestay are popular and villagers offer their sincere respect and love towards the visitors in the form of hospitality. Ghandruk is a cultural village residing in an ethnic group of Gurung people. Gurung museum, typical Gurung style houses, lovely hospitality and traditions followed by the people are still evident in this village. We will start our trek from Phedi and ends at Kande. During this trek, we can see the beautiful views of mountains, lush forest, scenic villages and the love, respect through their culture.

Brief Itinerary

As you land in Kathmandu airport you will be received by our representative and welcomed in Nepali Style. With the help of our representative, you will be transferred to the hotel. At evening we will meet for hearty Nepali Dinner in a Cultural program where we discuss the itinerary for the trip.

You will be exploring the valley where nature and culture meets that warm up your hearts. Morning relaxation and refinement of the soul will take place from the tour to those peaceful temples and monuments. We will visit the Hanumandhoka Durbar Square first and then the exploration of other sites will take place according to your desire and time.

After the breakfast, we will drive towards the Pokhara which is 200 km far from the Kathmandu on a private car. it will take 6 hr. to reach the Pokhara from Kathmandu. Today we will go for boating at Phewa Lake and relax near the lakeside before we commence our trek from tomorrow.

Early morning after having the breakfast we leave the Pokhara and drive to Nayapul.Nayapul is an entrance to Ghandruk village. After reaching Nayapul we take short refreshment break and start our trek towards Ghandruk. After walking for quite a while we reach the Ghandruk village. Upon reaching the fascinating Ghandruk village local people come to welcome and offer their hearty hospitality. At night local people gather up and entertain the guest with unique folk songs and typical dance of Gurung community.

Ghandruk is a cultural and beautiful village of the Gurung committee. Pothana is a small yet beautiful village resided by Gurung and Magar people.We leave Ghandruk after the breakfast and start walking towards the river(Modi Khola), after crossing the Modi Khola we pass through Landruk village before we climb to Pothana. 4 to 5 hours walk to reach the Pothana.

Today we rise early in the morning and trek to Australian camp to see the glorious sunrise in the Annapurna range. We trek for an hour before we reach Australian camp.You can see the magnificent view of Annapurna range from the cliff and during the sunrise it looks just unreal. After having breakfast we trek for another hour and reach Kande where our car will be waiting for us. We drive for an hour to reach Pokhara.

Cultural Trek is one of the popular trekking regions for cultural, lifestyle and tradition of Gurung people hence this region provides wide range of traditional meals. Dal Bhat (Rice, Lentils and Vegetables) are great way to gain energy for the strenuous trek.
There are plenty of water stations on each stop on the route. You can easily fill up the bottle from the open taps. We recommend that you bring water purifier tablets with you or at least get it from Kathmandu before you depart for trekking. You can also buy mineral waters but we usually recommend tap water which is pure and it helps us not promoting plastic bottled water.
We use private car for sightseeing inside the Kathmandu Valley and transfer to Pokhara on car, van and deluxe minibus with A/C depending on the size of the group. We also do pick up and drop from the starting and ending point of trek on private car or jeep.
February, March, April, May, June, October, November, December are the best time to do this trek.
In case of emergency like altitude sickness or any medical condition ask your tour leader to contact us so that we can transfer you to hospital for the treatment.
Trekking is a tiresome activity that requires a lot of physical movement so pack your active wears and trekking pants for at lower altitudes. Weather at high altitude is unpredictable so carry a light weight waterproof jacket along with thick down jacket, pant and thermal innerwear t to escape severe cold. Needless to say that, Good shoes are very important for trekking in rough and snowy terrain, so invest on good quality shoes or rent it from us in a minimum price. As you are trekking in remote village try to wear modest clothes to quickly gel up with the local people without hesitation.

We contact the lodge/guesthouse/tea house/home stay owner for reservation of the room before trekking on a particular day. We always try to make sure that we have everything well arranged.
All our guides are trekking experts holding license from Nepal Tourism Board, Nepal Government. They are the most valuable assets of the company. Guides know the trekking route like the back of their hand and use their expertise in ensuring your safety.
You need to pay for charging the electronics upon request to the owner. The best idea always is to bring your own power bank with you. It's easier and cheaper.
In same village, you can make local and international calls from telephone provided by the guesthouse/lodge/tea house/home stay owner after paying the price directly.
If you need extra day to complete the trekking, you'll need to inform the guide in advance and the guide will let the company know. Adding a day to trekking can result in many changes in other arrangements such as transportation, guide's schedule, flight details, hotel bookings and all, so we really don't recommend this to our clients unless there's an emergency cases. But it's true that those changes could be made but it will cost extra. The best way to do it is to inform the agent company about it.
Before coming to Nepal make sure you are covered for diphtheria & TB, hepatitis A, hepatitis B, malaria, typhoid, polio and tetanus. Make sure you are in best shape to complete the trekking without any complication.
Usually, we have to walk about 6-8 hours a day. But it should not be taken as certain thing because the hours of walk depends on client’s speed. So it is really relative.
To confirm your booking, a deposit of 15% of total trip amount is required if you are booking at least a year in advance before trip departure date. If booking is made between 100-364 days before the trip departure, you'll need to pay 20% to confirm the trip. If payment is made between 99-60 days, 25% of the total trip amount will need to be paid and if booked between 59-30 days, 50% of the total trip amount needs to be paid and finally, if you are booking 29 days prior to trip departure, then 100% payment should be made. The payments can be easily made by the bank transfer. The due balance is payable on arrival in Kathmandu with cash (preferably USD/EURO) or card on POS/credit card machine. Please note that non refundable fee is 10% or $200 whichever is greater.
No, you cannot use the credit card during the trek. You have to withdraw the money before you start the trek. You can use credit card only in Kathmandu and Pokhara.
You have to carry your personal bags with water bottle and medicines remaining bags will be carried by porters to make you easy to trek. The weight limit for porters is 15 KG..
