Trip for a Trip (T4T) Programme 2026

The Trip for a Trip (T4T) Programme is a collaborative effort between Responsible Travel and Swotah Travel that aims to provide educational travel opportunities for students from community schools. Through visits to places of historical, cultural, and natural significance, the programme encourages young learners to explore Nepal beyond the classroom and develop a deeper understanding of the country's heritage.

On 28 July 2026, 46 students from Grades 6, 7, and 9 of Shree Sahid Krishna Secondary School, Tanahun, participated in a programme including an educational visit to the historic Gorkha Durbar. Accompanied by their teachers and the organizing team, the students spent the day exploring one of Nepal's most important heritage sites while learning about its history, architecture, and cultural significance.

The journey began in the morning as the students traveled from Tanahun to Gorkha. For many of them, it was their first opportunity to visit Gorkha Durbar. The excitement was evident from the start, with students eager to discover the stories and history they had previously only read about in their textbooks.

Located on a hilltop overlooking the surrounding valleys, Gorkha Durbar is one of Nepal's most important historical landmarks. It was the ancestral palace of King Prithvi Narayan Shah, who led the unification of Nepal in the eighteenth century. The palace complex, along with the nearby temples and traditional architecture, offers a unique glimpse into the country's history and cultural heritage.

During the visit, the students explored different parts of the palace and learned about the historical events connected to Gorkha. They observed the traditional architecture, visited the temples within the complex, and listened to stories about the people and events that shaped modern Nepal. The experience allowed them to connect classroom lessons with real historical places, making learning more meaningful and memorable.

The programme also encouraged students to appreciate the importance of preserving Nepal's cultural heritage. By visiting historical sites firsthand, they gained a better understanding of why these places should be protected for future generations. Throughout the day, the students asked thoughtful questions, shared their observations, and actively participated in discussions with their teachers and guides.
