These constantly change in light of COVID-19. Please ask your Nepal tour agency or check the Nepal immigration website.
" You no longer need to complete a pre-departure COVID-19 (PCR) test or show a vaccination certificate on arrival in Nepal. (Updated 2025)"
Effective May 26, 2023, Nepal has implemented new travel guidelines for incoming travelers. Individuals entering Nepal, whether by air or land, are no longer required to provide a certificate of full vaccination against COVID-19. This provision will remain in place until further notice from the relevant authorities.
Additionally, travelers will not need to present a negative PCR test report for COVID-19 upon arrival. Those seeking detailed information and the most recent updates on these travel advisories should consult the Department of Immigration.
Before COVID-19, there were, and still are, colds, flu, and other nasty bugs. Climbers coming for mountaineering in Nepal, who have prepared for months for their ascent, and who have paid a lot of money for the experience, need to be in peak condition to head into the airless altitude of the highest mountain in the world. The slightest illness or accident could hinder their attempt. So that's why the dozens of trekkers who do the EBC Trek and reach base camp don't visit the same base camp as the mountaineers. Even within the mountaineers' base camp, different groups keep well apart from others for the same reason.
This example is like you coming in from overseas and traveling through Nepal. Keeping others safe, as well as yourself, should be a high priority.
